My personal point of view is that  krav maga is Imi Lichtenfeld system and when he died, everybody start their own organizations legitimate or not. I do not see really a problem in that is like karate, kung fu or judo. Who invented it? Who has a legitimate karate, kung fu or judo school? The main problem is not the name krav maga or other israeli system. The problem is lying to people about your military past or martial arts background in order to get more students, courses, seminars, more sales in dvds, and more famous. Moni Aizik is without a doubt one of the great judo instructors out there. But he lies about his military past. Saying he was a counter terrorism expert, killing enemies behind enemy lines and his military certificate only shows that he was a combat fitness instructor for the idf. He says he was in a classified idf unit and his missions were classifed as well. Well first if he was in classified missions why is he talking about it? There is a military code that classified missions does not exist or will never existed. Special Ops should not talk about it in order to be famous or make money. So first Moni should had never talked about classified missions because if he really was in one or more, those missions never existed.I'd choose Sgt Major Nir Maman to be my instructor in krav maga because he is an honest man and will not lied about his military past also he is one of the best krav maga instructors out there his simplicity in how he teahces but at the same time very effective made me choose him as my instructor his israeli connection dvds are one of the best self defense dvds out there. He was in the counter terror school and teach the israeli special forces soldiers his version of krav maga. Even if SGM Nir Maman was in classified missions he would  never talk about it. Military code of conduct.  Because is just between the IDF and him. So you can used your military profile and martial arts background in order to get courses and seminars, but if you were in classified missions you should stop there, because again those missions never existed and are classified or your are lying.Special ops Classified missions should not be  used it as a tool to get more students, seminars, courses and make more money etc.  In this websites and blogs below made by other people you will find the discussions and class action lawsuits for the israeli reality self defense systems. Frauds, misleadings, "mimics" I do agree in most of the instructors profile in those blogs that exaggerate or lie in their military profiles, but i do see as well to much exaggeration in trying to disqualified some instructors as Eyal Yanilov. Everybody has the right to open their own organization and academy. Eyal Yanilov was a Imi Lichtenfeld student. I don't know if all the people out there reading km blogs, forums will be interested in so many details to see if your organization is ok.  But well like i said those following blogs were made by other people. And everybody has a different point of view is like saying which karate academy is better or kung fu organization. which techniques are better and which ones work or does not work depends on the individual that is performing it and against who. Does size of the human being matter? in this case i will said yes. There are people with big strong hands and forearms and people with medium or small hands and forearm and could affect in real life a technique you used agains a stronger oponent. For example if you trying to disarm a guy with big strong hands with the regular km disarming and you do have small hands. And the other guy has at the same time quick reflexes you could be killed and not make the disarming. It is true that most techniques regarding the organization legitimate or nor will work or not under the element of surprise but attention there is out there very nasty people with quick reflexes that can in a fraction of  second make a counter attack at the same time you are doing a gun or knife disarming. Be careful to used any of the km techniques  in real life. Try to used techniques agains agressive people pushing you with the empty hand not just standing over there and watching how you make the disarming.  I know that the name krav maga will be used by new and current organizations and new instructors and nobody will stop that. Most of this Krav Maga problems is because of MONEY!! I do remember like Bruce system JKD. Everybody in the 1960's were amazed by his new system and that he criticized the mechanical movements in karate  and other systems. And he said in the real world there should be a minimum of movement in order to succed in attacking or defending. Bruce Lee never lied about his martial arts background  and is respected today. I will said that Moni was not the first one to said. "Simplicity is genius" Which i do agree. But it was a Bruce Lee that said Something similar: Jeet Kune Do seeks to waste no time or movement, teaching that the simplest things work best. Economy of motion is the principle by which JKD practitioners achieve:

  • Efficiency: An attack which reaches its target in the least amount of time, with maximum force.
  • Directness: Doing what comes naturally in a learned way.
  • Simplicity: Thinking in an uncomplicated manner; without ornamentation.
